The Law specifies the legal status of the diplomatic officials. It enhances governance of the foreign diplomatic institutions of Ukraine, admission to the diplomatic service, diplomatic career, etc.
Under the Law, the system of bodies of the diplomatic service consists of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, representative office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in the territory of Ukraine, and foreign diplomatic institutions of Ukraine.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is the central executive body that carries out the state foreign policy and coordinates the activity of the public authorities in the sphere of foreign relations.
The status, objectives and functions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine are determined by this law, other laws of Ukraine and the Decree on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine ratified by the President of Ukraine.
