Ukrainian Parliament will exert every Effort to facilitate Relations between Ukraine and Iran
V.M.Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met A. Ghasemi Ali Abadi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Ukraine.
During the meeting, the Parties discussed significant issues concerning strengthening of the parliamentary component in the development of the Ukrainian-Iranian trade-economic and social relations.
Namely, A. Ghasemi Ali Abadi is convinced that "parliaments have great impact on the development of the bilateral inter-state relations and are able to transfer them into a strategic level of partnership." He expressed regret concerning the lack of efficient cooperation between our states. Mr. Ambassador explained that the total sales turnover between Iran and Ukraine does not reflect the whole potential of both countries. It is proved by comparing statistical data of sales turnover with Russia, Belarus, Georgia and other states of former Soviet Union, and also Turkey, China and Brazil.
On behalf of the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, A. Ghasemi Ali Abadi requested to organize the meeting on the supreme level with the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to hold consultations on future steps in the inter-parliamentary cooperation.
Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of
Ukraine V. Lytvyn declared that the Ukrainian Parliament is ready to exert
efforts to foster the bilateral relations between Iran and Ukraine. "We shall
make some constructive steps, as even considering the global economic crisis, the results of our cooperation are insufficient."
V. Lytvyn is convinced that the relations between both states shall be mutually profitable, in the high-tech industry, first of all. Furthermore, the Head of the Ukrainian Parliament deems necessary to develop cooperation in the social sphere. In this context, he suggested holding of days of Iran in Ukraine and vice versa.
V. Lytvyn hopes that the Parliaments
will play a leading role in the inter-state cooperation, "We impartially
evaluate Iran and are ready to strengthen the inter-parliamentary dialogue by establishing
an efficient dialogue between the Heads of the Parliaments and friendship committees
and groups."
