Mykola Tomenko: People support the Opposition in considering the Yearlong Activity of the President as the Obit of Election Pledges

 

At the briefing in the Parliament on Friday, Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, declared that the Ukrainian society supported opposition in the definition of yearlong activity of the President as the obit of election pledges.

 

The Deputy Chairman reminded that the main slogan of V. Yanukovych during his election campaign was ‘immediate improvement of life´, although, according to the figures of the latest opinion poll conducted by "Ukrainian Democratic Circle" agency on the request of the Institute of Politics, most people (61,7%) admitted worsening of their financial situation for the last 12 months. One third of respondents (33,3%) explained that their financial situation had not changed, while 4% are convinced that their financial situation had improved.

 

"One in ten Ukrainian families (11,2%) lacks money even for food, while two fifths (41,3%) have money for food but can not afford buying clothes," M. Tomenko emphasized. According to the opinion poll, absolute majority of the citizens of Ukraine (97,55%) are worried about the price increase. "It means that actually 100% of citizens of Ukraine wake up, thinking what products they can afford that day", the politician emphasized.

 

Furthermore, the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine reminded that a single tax remained a debatable issue. He informed that according to the poll, half of the citizens (50,8%) considers the simplified taxation system positive. He also announced that most citizens (56,7%) are convinced that such spheres as agro-industrial complex shall have tax privileges.
