Mykola Tomenko: If the Authorities do not come to the People, the People will come to the Authorities.
At the live program on Channel 5, Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, was asked about the possible actions of the opposition. He responded that planning of another ‘Maidan´ is wrong, while the opposition may coordinate the actions of the society, when the latter is ready for the protest actions. "We had only one ‘Maidan´ in 2004. Then people decided by themselves to go to the square for the protests. The time will come, when the Ukrainian people will stop tolerating cruel treatment and go to the streets. If the authorities do not come to the people, the people will come to the authorities", the Deputy Chairman stressed. "I am convinced that the society is not ready yet, but I am sure the moment will come and it will be a great challenge for the authorities."
Discussing the possible union of the opposition, Mykola Tomenko emphasized, "I am for particular actions instead of the appeals to the mass media. The opposition shall start with the common work in the parliament, and form a single register of the opposition, including 255 candidates for the deputy offices in majority constituencies, coordinating positions during the presidential election campaign."
