Mykola Tomenko: Quality and Qualification of the Ukrainian Higher Education Establishments shall not be assessed by the Number of Students only

Staying with a working visit in Zakarpattia region on Monday, Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met the students and the faculty of Zakarpattia A.Erdeli Art Institute. Asked whether a new Law on higher education will be adopted, M.Tomenko responded that quality and qualification of the Ukrainian higher education establishments shall not be assessed by the number of students only. "Along these lines, those higher education establishments that issue diplomas in all possible majors 24\7 will be most popular. At the same time, single or premium higher education establishments can not have a large number of students," the politician stressed. "As far as the majors in the art institutes are concerned, the struggle for the number of artists, sculptors or architects is impossible," the Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine remarked.

The Deputy Chairman supports the educational reform, provided it is implemented jointly with the teachers and the students, not against them.
