Mykola Tomenko: The General Prosecution shall consider Interference with the Activity of the Journalists of Channel 5 in the Coverage of the Protest Action

As it is known from the mass media report, on November 27, 2010, employees of the Department of the State Security applied force not to let Azad Safarov, journalist of Channel 5, and Olena Sorokina, director of photography, enter the tent in Maidan Nezalezhnosti square, where the Prime Minister had a conversation with businessmen. The security of the Prime Minister ignored a request of A. Safarov to introduce himself and show his identity card. When the Prime Minister went out of the tent, the journalists and the director of photography were violently pushed back, which damaged the lens of the camera.

According to the Deputy Chairman, actions of the employees of the State Security Department interfered with the activity of the journalists, as Channel 5 was trying cover the meeting of the Prime Minister of Ukraine with the protesting entrepreneurs. Thus, Mykola Tomenko appealed to the Prosecutor General of Ukraine with a request to consider this case.
