On the occasion of the Police Day celebrated on December, 20, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met the representatives of the Union of Veterans of the Internal Affairs Agencies. He reminded that the holiday had been initiated on the day The Verkhovna Rada adopted the Law "On the Police" in 1990, which became the starting point in the history of the Ukrainian police.
Greeting the participants of the meeting, V.Lytvyn stressed that the veterans of the internal affairs agencies "have dedicated their lives to the law and order and eradication of the organized crime centers that had even tried to replace the authorities in particular regions." He declared, "The Union has a moral right to make collective conclusions." He highly appreciated the administrative, team-working and intellectual experience of the Union members. V.Lytvyn expects that "the stance of the Union on the public matters will become more important."
Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, conferred the Honorary Diplomas of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine upon the veterans of the internal affairs agencies of Ukraine for their substantial contribution into the strengthening of the law and order, protection of civil rights and freedoms, long-lasting decent service, and competence.
