On Tuesday, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met Pawel K. Zalewski, the European Parliament Deputy, member of the Group of the European People's Party, at his request. The Parties discussed the European integration perspectives of Ukraine. Mr. Zalewski considers the results of the 14th EU-Ukraine Summit (Brussels, 22 November 2010) successful for our state, and emphasised that it was the European Parliament that exerted efforts to form the best image of Ukraine during the summit. "Our dream is to see Ukraine in the European Union", Mr. Zalewski assured the Head of the Ukrainian Parliament.
He appreciated the consensus between the power branches of Ukraine and "the trenchant policy of the Government aimed at the reforms." He stated that the reforms were rather complicated and painful for the society, although utterly necessary for the state, since they facilitate European integration.
On his part, V. Lytvyn focused on the strengthening of cooperation between Ukraine, the European Union member states, and the parties sincerely interested in the integration of Ukraine to the EU. V. Lytvyn stressed the importance of the dialogue between Ukraine and the European structures to demonstrate support of our state.
