The Committee on Taxation and Customs Policy set up a Working Group to draft a New Version of the Customs Code of Ukraine

The resolution was adopted during the working session with the People´s Deputies of Ukraine, representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers, State Customs Service, Council of Entrepreneurs under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, European Business-Association, and experts.

 

 

 

V. Khomutynnik, Chairman of the Committee, opened the meeting and emphasised that while drafting a new version of the Customs Code, several issues must be settled, namely, "simplification and facilitation of the customs procedures; reduction of human factor influence on the procession of goods and customs clearances; harmonization of customs control and clearance with the European standards." He is convinced, "It is necessary to organize the procedures for them to take nearly 4 hours and be as simple as possible."

 

 

 

The participants of the working session called for preventing customs violation, strengthening of post-audit role, delegating considerable authorities to the customs bodies, fixing strict terms of the proceedings on the part of customs officers and appeal.

 

 

 

In the result of the meeting, the participants passed the resolution to set up the working groups according to the general directions of the new version of the Customs Code of Ukraine that should consist of the People´s Deputies of Ukraine, representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers, State Customs Service, and also leading business-associations.
