Mykola Tomenko: Public Officers who disrespect the Ukrainian Language have neither Legal nor Moral Right to work in the Public Bodies

Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, believes that the brutal incidence in Odesa with the participation of the inspector of the Department State Motor Vehicle Inspectorate of Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine (the inspector grossly retorted to the driver´s request to speak the state language) not only confirms that the inspectorate employs the people who neglect the Ukrainian language, but shows how many incumbent high-ranking officials officially represent the Ukrainian State, are financially supported by the Ukrainian State, and hate their own state at the same time. "Their ‘example´ gives rise to such disgraceful incidents," M.Tomenko stressed.

The Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine believes that such people have no right to work in the public bodies. "Public officers who disrespect the Ukrainian language have neither legal nor moral right to work in the public bodies, or act on behalf of the Ukrainian State," he declared. The Deputy Chairman drew attention of the President and his team to the fact that similar attitude to the Ukrainian language and culture in a more tolerant form "is observed on a daily basis, starting from the ministers and finishing with Odesa mayor."
