Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is convinced the if the Critical Situation with the National Historical-Ethnographic Reserve "Pereiaslav" is not solved soon, it may ne liquidated.
M. Tomenko reminded that the reserve is a treasure of the national importance, it preserves more than 170 thousand memorial items of the State Museum Fund of Ukraine. He emphasised that for the period of several months there has been a complicated situation in the reserve in the result of which, it may be destroyed. Thus, according to M. Tomenko, he received numerous appeals of the reserve personnel regarding the illegal actions of its general director appointed to the office in May of the current year and for the term of its service, accordion to the information submitted by the museum workers he used to violate the requirements of the laws on museums and museum activity and general instruction concerning the register and preserving system of the museum valuables.
The Deputy Chairman stated that unfortunately all his appeals to the power structures and law enforcement agencies have not been properly scrutinized and he received only formal answers on his appeals.
m. Tomenko is convinced that today with the help of publicity and mass media there is a chance to preserve on of the pearls of the Ukrainian Museum Fund - National Historical-Ethnographic Reserve "Pereiaslav." He called the journalists to the active elucidating of the situation with the reserve. M. Tomenko informed that the future of the reserve would be discussed on December 14 at 10.00 during the sitting of Pereiaslav-Khmelnytskyi city council.
