In the interview to "Pro Holovne" program (the First National Channel), V.Lytvyn stated that The Verkhovna Rada had created the preconditions for the start of large-scale reforms. The Chairman stated that in 2010, The Verkhovna Rada scrutinized 1670 issues and adopted several systemic legislative acts to implement the program of the President of Ukraine on the reforms, esp. the laws on the fundamental domestic and foreign policy, judicial system and economic deregulation, the Tax and the Budget Codes.
"Thus, 2010 was not only the year of presidential elections, but also the year of laying the foundation for the year 2011 to become the time of essential transformations," he stressed.
Asked to assess the parliament´s work in 2010, V.Lytvyn responded, "I assess it with careful optimism." He reminded that The Verkhovna Rada had been blocked for eight plenary days in 2010. In the previous years, the legislative body did not work for several months. "Still, we have adopted complicated, responsible and essential resolutions," the Head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine emphasized.
