On Tuesday, Volodymyr
Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, and László
Kövér, Speaker of the National Assembly
of Hungary, signed the Agreement on Cooperation between The Verkhovna Rada of
Ukraine and the National Assembly of Hungary.
The ceremony was held in the framework of the official visit of V.M.Lytvyn to Hungary.
Under the Agreement, the Parties shall support and develop the inter-parliamentary liaison in the political, economic and social sectors; hold the joint consultations and exchange of ideas on the matters of common concern on the level of delegations within the multilateral inter-parliamentary cooperation.
Apart from the cooperation between the deputy groups on the inter-parliamentary liaison, the Parties shall exchange the experience and ideas, foster the dialogue and approve their actions within cooperation between the parliamentary committees on the European integration, economy, foreign policy, environmental protection, and concerning the European conventions on the rights of the national minorities, and the Ukrainian and Hungarian experience in the protection of the national minority rights.
The Parties consider cooperation in
the European integration as a priority orientation of the bilateral relations,
aimed to arrange prerequisites for the bilateral cooperation.
The Parties promote cross-border and regional cooperation, especially in the Danube and Carpathian regions.
The National Assembly of the Republic of Hungary facilitates strengthening of cooperation between Ukraine and the members of the Visegrád Group.
