On Tuesday, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met the representatives of the Ukrainian community in Hungary.

The meeting was held within the working visit of V. Lytvyn to Hungary.

Speaking with the representatives of the Ukrainian community in Hungary, V. Lytvyn expressed contentment with the results of the meetings within his official visit. He claimed to have heard "only positive words about the Ukrainian community, and the intentions to strengthen the relations between Ukraine and Hungary."

Meeting the President of the Republic of Hungary, V.Lytvyn discussed implementation of the Law of the Republic of Hungary "On Amendments to the Law of the Republic of Hungary 1993 LV. On Hungarian Citizenship." V. Lytvyn deems necessary to analyze the situation to protect the people, as the domestic law does not envisage the double citizenship. One should renounce Ukrainian citizenship before acquiring another nationality, as it is a matter of national security.

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine called for preserving the spiritual traditions and memory of the nation.

"We should write the history to develop a historically conscious nation", V. Lytvyn stressed. He mentioned that the history textbooks should not involve children into problem-solving, whereas they should foster patriotism. The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine called for continuing consultations with the neighboring countries: Poland, Hungary and Russia, lest the text books should present information to "raise hatred."

V. Lytvyn deems necessary to "speak with the facts and proofs." Harmonization of history on the political level means coordination of the state existence." "It is the experts that should work here, not the politicians", the Head of the Ukrainian Parliament stressed.

The participants of the meeting discussed the political and economic issues. V. Lytvyn emphasized that the political life should be stable and based on the common human values. He explained that political ‘showdowns´ had a negative impact on economic development of the state. He is convinced that it was the main reason why Ukraine had lost 15 per cent of the national wealth.

Speaking on the sensitive language issue, V. Lytvyn emphasized, "It requires not the decisions, but a consensus. Public funds should be invested in the development of the Ukrainian language."

As it was reported, on November 23-24, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, stays with a working visit in the Republic of Hungary.
