Volodymyr Lytvyn projects that the Main Financial Document will be adopted by 24 December

On Monday, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, was asked about the probable date of adoption of the State Budget for 2011. He responded, "I am a confirmed optimist in this respect it will be adopted by the end of the year."

He believes that the document may be adopted on 23-24 December 2010. He reminded of the prior meetings with the members of the Cabinet of Ministers, and the agreement to bring forward the draft State Budget on 1 December. The Head of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stated that uncertain situation with the Tax Code influenced the terms of submitting the State Budget to the Parliament.

V.Lytvyn suggested holding an extraordinary sitting of the Parliament on 8 December to present the draft State Budget for 2011. "It may be adopted as a basis during the coming plenary week (14-17 December), and in entirety on 24 December. Thus, the situation with the main fiscal document will be clarified. We should no longer procrastinate," he stated.
