Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, doubts that the number of deputy groups and factions will presently grow.
Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, made this statement in the interview to Interfaks-Ukraina news agency. "I doubt that their number will considerably grow, as the deputies are not familiar with the coming electoral law yet, and do not hurry to establish the new groups", he explained.
"Everyone is estimating and biding their time. If the electoral system is mixed, it requires a particular approach, but if the proportional election system is kept, the deputies will have to unite," V.Lytvyn stated. "If the majoritarian electoral system is introduced, the deputies will leave their factions immediately. Everyone will claim that Ukrainian people are their only priority."
