Mykola Tomenko: Common Actions of the Ukrainian and Belarusian Parliaments in the Result of Ratification of the Agreement on State Border shall simplify as much as Possible the Order of Crossing the Border for Our Citizens.

 

On Thursday, in the course of the visit to Minsk, the Ukrainian delegation headed by the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Mykola Tomenko will take part in the sitting of Interparliamentary Commission on Cooperation with the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus.

 

While opening III sitting of Interparliamentary Commission on Cooperation with the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and Co-chairman of the Commission emphasised the bilateral relations that shall regulate the issues regarding the borders as of prior importance in the relations between our states.

 

M. Tomenko expressed gratitude to the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus for the ratification of the agreement on state border between both states and also focused the attention on the fact that today it would be reasonable to envisage the following actions algorithm: form the inter-governmental demarcation commission and conduct border demarcation and other actions. The Deputy Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament is convinced that such actions would simplify as much as possible the order of the border crossing for our citizens, equipment of the checkpoints etc.

 

The Deputy Chairman of the Parliament also expressed hope that after intensification of the common activity of Ukrainian and Belarusian Parliaments in the framework of European Union initiative "Eastern Partnership", Ukraine would expect on the financial assistance for the demarcation of Ukrainian and Belarusian border.

 

M. Tomenko stressed the importance of the trade-economic cooperation issues between Ukraine and the Republic of Belarus.

 

In the result of the today´s discussion during the sitting of Interparliamentary Commission on Cooperation with the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus a number of relevant decisions would be adopted, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine also informed that next sitting is planed to be held in 2011 in Kyiv.
