56 OSCE member states and 12 partners of the Organization take part in the Summit.

 

The Enlarged Bureau of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly held its sitting in Astana yesterday. Oleh Bilorus, Deputy President of the OSCE PA, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Foreign Affairs, attended the sitting.  

 

He believes that participation of the members of the Bureau of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in the Summit of the member states contributes to the activity of the Organization and its Parliamentary Assembly as to the support of peace, stability and development in the OSCE region.  

 

Summit of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) member states, the first meeting on the supreme level since the Summit in Istanbul (Turkey) in 1999, has been launched in Astana (the Republic of Kazakhstan).

 

The Summit tackles the security issues, namely: reducing the risk of conflicts in the OSCE area of responsibility by focusing on the ethnic and religious tolerance, consolidation of the rule of law, respect for the human rights and fundamental freedoms, support of the civic society, economic liberties, social and environmental responsibility. It also deals with the global challenges to become the key elements of the final declaration of the Summit.
