On Tuesday, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met the Deputy Group of the Parliament of the Kingdom of Spain.

 

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine laid emphasis on the positive dynamics of the development of bilateral relations, and expressed his hopes that the further dialogue on the highest level would considerably strengthen them.

 

V. Lytvyn deems necessary to strengthen and systematize the interparliamentary relations. He expects that the visit of the Spanish parliamentarians would foster the relations. He also informed about a relevant friendship group in the Ukrainian parliament.

 

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada declared, "We are looking forward to the visit of Mr. Jose Bono, President of the Congress of Deputies of the Kingdom of Spain, planned for the next year".

 

According to the Head of the Parliament, our countries have a great potential for the cooperation in the economic sector and the sphere of investments. "We shall strengthen efforts of the Governments on the parliamentary level", he stated. "Verkhovna Rada would presently adopt the sustainable rules for the economic life", V. Lytvyn informed, and explained that the investors working in Ukraine would receive "good results."

 

V. Lytvyn also called for the development of bilateral relations in the spheres of culture, science and education.

In his turn, Juan Moscoso, Head of the Deputy Group of the Parliament of the Kingdom of Spain, and members of the Committee on European Union matters of the Parliament of the Kingdom of Spain, have highly appreciated the level of bilateral cooperation and called for strengthening cooperation in the economic sector and sphere of investments.

 

He laid emphasis on the effective cooperation between the Spanish and the Ukrainian Parliaments in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, and announced that the Spanish Parliament was palling to set up a group of friendship on interparliamentary liaison with Ukraine.

 

The Head of the delegation declared that the Spanish parliamentarians were willing to share their experience with the Ukrainian colleagues.

 

V. Lytvyn emphasised that Ukraine "does not claim preferences from the European Union." According to him, the agreements on association and free trade zone should be signed. He also stated that Ukraine expected signing of the Action Plan on the visa free regime with the European Union during the summit Ukraine-EU in Brussels on 22 November. "Adoption of these issues would consolidate the Ukrainian society and facilitate the efficient implementation of domestic reforms", the Head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine declared.
