The People´s Deputies took into account the report of N.V.Zaimenko, Director of M.M.Hryshko National Botanical Garden, on the implementation of the resolutions mentioned.
The Committee members stated that celebration of the 75th anniversary of foundation of M.M.Hryshko National Botanical Garden became an outstanding event in the scientific and cultural life of Ukraine. M.M.Hryshko National Botanical Garden is one of the largest botanical gardens in the world that tackles complex issues of introduction, selection and acclimatization of plants. The garden is a member of the Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI) and Planta Europa Network, and heads the Council of Botanical Gardens and Dendrological Parks of Ukraine.
Implementation of the Resolution "On Celebration of the 75th Anniversary of Foundation of M.M.Hryshko National Botanical Garden of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine" was said to enhance the prestige of Ukrainian science, and promoted achievements of Ukrainian scholars in the conservation of genetic material of plants, development of biology and environmental protection.
The Committee stressed that Kyiv City State Administration failed to settle the issue on the demarcation of a 200-meter protection zone from the border of M.M.Hryshko National Botanical Garden, as envisaged by the Resolution "On Immediate Action for the Protection of Territorial Integrity of M.M.Hryshko National Botanical Garden."
The Committee recommends that the Cabinet of Ministers allocates UAH 5100 thousand from the State Budget of Ukraine for the major repairs of the electrical and heat supply networks in M.M.Hryshko National Botanical Garden, and repairs of its premises.
