Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, took part in the events in Cossacks village ‘Mameva Sloboda´, where an oak lane from the famous Cossacks places in Ukraine was planted. M. Tomenko planted the oak from Chornobaivskyi district of Cherkasy region, where Ukrainian vigorous man Ivan Piddubnyi was born.

Before the beginning of this event, Mykola Tomenko stated, "Today we need to feel the energy and spirit of our great heroic history, so I do support this initiative and would like to plant the tree from the birth place of a great representative of Cossacks family, unconquerable strong man Ivan Marsymovych Piddubnyi."

M. Tomenko stressed that Ukrainians had to preserve courage and devotion to Ukraine. The Deputy Chairman declared, "A lot of famous people started crouching their backs before the new authorities, and forgot their history and culture and the fact that they are Ukrainians."

The Deputy Chairman greeted all the participants of the event.
