Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, believes that fruitful cooperation is of priority in the relations between Ukraine and the European Union.

Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, made this statement in the interview to Interfaks-Ukraina news agency, commenting upon the results of Ukraine-EU summit held on 22 November.

"Ukraine appreciates fruitful cooperation with the EU. I believe that we are tired of searching for the correct statements, and taking efforts to support these statements," he admitted.

The Head of the Parliament supposes that signing of the visa-free action plan is a specific achievement, which should be further worked upon. According to V.Lytvyn, the issue of documentation and legislative base are of priority, followed by the matters of migration and readmission. It is important to guarantee a sustainable development of Ukraine, as we as a transparent and responsible foreign policy.  "Ukraine and the EU hold the same view on this topic," he stressed.

V.Lytvyn deems necessary to adopt and implement the laws to support the visa-free regime. "It is easy to adopt the laws, but it is difficult to implement them," the Head of the Parliament stated. "It is no coincidence that the European Union demands implementation of the laws to be adopted. The EU is concerned not so much with the harmonization of our Laws with the European requirements, as with their realization."
