The
Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will provide legislative support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. V. Lytvyn, Chairman
of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, made this statement, conferring the Certificates of Honour to the
scholarship winners of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, students of higher military education
establishments.
V. Lytvyn attaches great importance to this issue. He declared that the President of Ukraine, the Parliament and the Government intended to increase the expenditures for the Armed Forces. The needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine make up nearly 40% of the GDP.
The Head of the Parliament stated that the requirements of the Law on the Financial Support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the rate of 3% of the GDP could not be observed due to the complicated economic situation. However, he declared that the effective budget allocated 1,21% of the GDP (UAH 13,5 billion) for these purposes.
According to V. Lytvyn, there is "stability, determination and clear perspective on the actions to be taken."
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine expressed his gratitude to all the presentees for choosing the profession of the defender of Motherland, as it is "a great responsibility to protect the Motherland, family and native home."
Addressing the military students, V.Lytvyn emphasised: "You will face challenges requiring not only professional training, but also understanding of the global affairs." Having analyzed the present geopolitical situation, V. Lytvyn declared that Ukraine "is not a token money in the negotiations between the global players, as it is not influenced by any state." He is convinced that new rules of co-existence should be worked out.
The
Head of the Parliament emphasised that Ukraine strived
for efficient cooperation with the European
Union. He reminded that despite its non-aligned status, the country was effectively
cooperating with NATO.
The Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament also highlighted "the objectives of the state caused by the necessity of social development and the lack of resources supporting the state development so far." "Considering the global vision, our own principles of an independent state should be developed", V. Lytvyn is convinced.
He wished the presentees future military leaders, ministers, politicians and deputies - to achieve their aims, have high life standards and occupy leading positions.
