Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, supposes that the Resolution on Reorganization of the Parliamentary Committees can be adopted after the Discussion of their Activity

Asked about his attitude towards merging of the parliamentary committee on taxation and customs policy and the committee on finance and banking, V.Lytvyn stated that he objected to the merge of these two committees only.

"I suggested meeting the chairmen of the committees after the preparation of assessment surveys to analyze the work of each committee and its results," V.Lytvyn stated. "The results are different and ill-proportioned, as some committees are overloaded, while others are underloaded."

If in the result of consultations the parliament members decide to reduce the number of committees, and, consequently, offices, V.Lytvyn recommends doing that in complex. "If the committees are to be enlarged, it should be done after the consultations, not to settle the political accounts", V.Lytvyn stated.

Commenting upon the merge of the parliamentary committee on taxation and customs policy and the committee on finance and banking, V.Lytvyn stated that the members of the committee on taxation and customs policy gave a vote of non-confidence to the Committee Chairman and submitted a relevant act to The Verkhovna Rada. "I do not want to give any reasons for the talks about political prosecutions, and so on. I have repeatedly suggested that the BYuT and the Party of Regions Factions exchanged the committees," V.Lytvyn stressed.
