Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met on Monday Slavica Đukić Dejanović, President of the Narodna Skupština of Serbia (National Assembly of Serbia), who stays with the official visit in Ukraine.
In the course of the meeting the Parties discussed a number of issues regarding the bilateral relations.
V. Lytvyn emphasised that Serbia for Ukraine is a leading partner in Balkan region and according to his words, our state is interested in the all-round development of interstate relations with Serbia and also in the coordination of the efforts within the international organisations, the parliamentary ones first of all. "We expect Your visit facilitates strengthening of the Ukrainian-Serbian relations", he stated.
The chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine expressed hope that the interparliamentary cooperation "shall play the role of motive force" in the issue of systematization and intensification of the bilateral relations, facilitate their entrance qualitatively new level. V. Lytvyn deems it necessary to broaden the relations on the level of the committees and political factions of the legislative bodies of our states.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is convinced that Ukraine and Serbia possess great potential for the development of the cooperation in economic, research-technical, military and social spheres. "The main point is that we have mutual understanding and the desire to cooperate", V. Lytvyn declared and reminded that at the present moment 24 document are under the scrutiny of the Parties.
In her turn Slavica Đukić Dejanović expressed for the development of the cooperation in the sphere of machinery construction and transport, chemical industry and tourism. "Friendship between our states is the guarantee of the further development of the bilateral relations, in particular through the parliamentary diplomacy", she emphasised.
According
to the President of the
Narodna Skupština, one of the leading issues for the development of the interparliamentary
component of the Ukrainian-Serbian relations is the cooperation within
the level of the parliamentary committees on foreign religions and friendship
groups.
Slavica Đukić Dejanović expressed gratitude to the Ukrainian Party for "the principal attitude" towards the integrity of Serbia. "Our positions regarding this issue is invariable", V. Lytvyn declared and added that the proposition of Serbia regarding the broad autonomy of Kosovo would meet the support of the European states. The Head of the Ukrainian Parliament also stressed the importance of the solution of the sharp problems by the means of the negotiations based on the international law norms. "Europe should be integral, in such a case it would possess stability", he emphasised.
The Head of the Ukrainian Parliament also declared that Ukraine expects the assistance of Serbia in the issues of election of our state as an alternate member of the UNO Security Council in 2016.
In the course of the meeting the Parties also exchanged experience of relations with the European co-partnership taking into the consideration the fact both countries have one mutual aim European Union membership.
In particular, V. Lytvyn declared that Ukraine is interested in the Serbian approach to the negotiation process regarding the issue of the implementation of visa-free regime with EU and conclusion of the Treaty on free trade with EU.
