In the Framework of the Working Visit to Chernihiv Region on Friday, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, visited the Regional Children Hospital to meet its Personnel and Small Patients
V.Lytvyn presented the artificial
respirator to the special baby care unit and surveyed the work of a
newly-renovated traumatic surgery unit. The doctors of the hospital stated that 16 thousand children annually proceeded
with the residential treatment, while 60 thousand received outpatient
treatment. Moreover, the personnel of the hospital organize regional mobile
surgery teams to the distant districts.
Having visited the hospital, V.Lytvyn stated that the system of children summer holidays recreation that existed in Soviet times should be restored. The Head of the Parliament explained that after the end of a school year, children are often left unattended, the rate of children traumatism increasing.
Assessing the organization of work
at the hospital, V.Lytvyn stated that "the personnel are concerned with the children´s
problems and foster friendly atmosphere."
The Head of the Parliament reminded that after his visit to hematology unit in Sumy regional hospital, the Parliament adopted the bill on amendments to the budget, allocating UAH 87 million for treatment of children with cancer. "I believe that we should not talk about the all-Ukrainian happiness, but settle the pressing issues affecting the children", he stated.
V.Lytvyn pointed out that Chernihiv region belonged to 11 depressed regions of Ukraine. He stated that production outweighs consumption only in 11 out of 27 regions of Ukraine. He deems necessary to pass several resolutions on development of Chernihiv region, since "it actually dies out." V.Lytvyn produced statistical figures that three deaths fall for two births, while the average wages in this region are lower by UAH 600, than in the rest part of Ukraine.
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stated that the draft Tax Code included provisions on the free economic zones and priority development territories, so "almost entire Chernihiv region should get this status." He declared that the region possessed an enormous tourist, recreational, agricultural, intellectual and industrial potential. "However, this region requires governmental support and a development program. I hope that adoption of the Tax Code will give special privileges to such regions to provide for their growth", V.Lytvyn stated, "It is necessary to analyze specificity and capabilities of every region to use them for the benefit of every region in particular and the country on the whole."
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine also visited a pre-school education establishment No. 7 and presented a children playground to it.
