The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the Law "On Elections of the People's Deputies of the Autonomous Republic of the Crimea, Local Councils and Village, Township and City Mayors"

The Law alters the election system pursuant to which the Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of the Crimea, local councils, village, township and regional councils are to be elected from the propositional into the majority-propositional.

 

Pursuant to the document, elections of the Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of the Crimea, local councils, village, township and regional councils are conducted according to the majority-propositional system.

 

Local elections are appointed not later than in 60 days before the date of elections and the election process is commenced in 50 days before the regular local elections.

 

Furthermore, electoral blocs of the local organisations of the political parties are excluded form the numbers of the subjects of the elections process during the local elections, the order of the formation of the election commissions are altered as well as the order of fielding candidates for elections etc.

 

Document introduces the relevant amendments to the Code of Administrative Legal Proceedings, Laws "On the Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of the Crimea", "On Status of the Deputies of the Local Councils", "On Central Election Committee", "On Capital of Ukraine City-Hero Kyiv."
