Mykola Tomenko: Chernihiv Region presented its Nominees for the Action "7 Wonders of Ukraine: Castles, Citadels, Palaces"

 

Mykola Tomenko, initiator of the national action "7 Wonders of Ukraine: Castles, Citadels, Palaces", Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, announced that its second stage organization of the press tours and presentation of nominees by the regions was in progress.  Thus, on 11 June, the participants of the press tour jointly with Mykola Tomenko and People´s Deputy Valerii Dubil, partner of the action, visited Chernihiv region.

 

Out of 134 nominees, Chernihiv region is represented by three wonderful palaces: the Palace of Kyrylo Rozumovskyi (Baturyn town), the Palace of the Halahans in Sokyryntsi village and Kachanivskyi Palace.

 

Speaking with the journalists during the press tour, the Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stated that he expected that at least one of the palaces of Chernihiv region would come into the final stage of the action. According to M.Tomenko, Chernihiv region is a unique land of Ukrainian palaces and park complexes. "It is one of the leading regions of Ukraine by the number of palaces with park complexes built by the prominent foreign and Ukrainian architects", he stated.  

 

According to M.Tomenko, all the palaces of this region are tightly connected with the Ukrainian history; Ukrainian public figures, poets, prose writers, representatives of the Russian cultural elite have resided there.   

 

M.Tomenko stated that this national action aimed not only at the presentation of the best samples of the palace architecture and defence facilities, but also at the inventory of the most objects of this type regardless of their condition. "Even the objects that will not come into the semi-final of the action will be included into the guide book and marked at the upcoming map of palaces and castles of Ukraine", he promised.
