Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, rejects the Declaration of the Opposition Representatives regarding "the Profanation" of the Voting in the Parliament for the Law on Local Elections and Budget Code.
As an answer to the question of "КомерсантЪ-Україна" newspaper regarding the fact that opposition deems these decision "profanation", as the amendments introduced by the representatives of the oppositional factions have not been taken into the consideration, V. Lytvyn declared that such actions are the tactics of the parliamentary activity that is used in numerous states. The Head of the Parliament declared that "consideration of such actions as a profanation is possible only due to their weakness."
"I do accept any decision of any faction. Though, if the amendments are not upheld it proves the week work, done by the oppositions: first of all by the committee and later in the session hall. Faction is supposed to be present with still its members and vote for its amendments! When there are left only 3-5 persons, the amendments are voted by 5-15 People´s Deputies of Ukraine."
Thus, the Head of the Parliament declared that "discussion of the profanation I consider as hypocrisy."
