At the today´s briefing at the Parliament, Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, commented on the first hundred days of work of the Government. Thus, he is afraid lest the famous phrase of Stalin repeated by Azarov should become prophetical.

As it was mentioned, assessing economic tendencies for the first hundred days of work of the Government, Mykola Azarov, Prime Minister of Ukraine, stated: "Life is getting better, more joyful." Commenting upon this assessment of Government´s activity, M.Tomenko characterized it as ‘symptomatic.´ "Probably for these ‘talented families´ in authority "life is getting better, more joyful", whereas situation of the Ukrainian people is more complicated", he stated.  (Reportedly, People´s Deputy Yu.Novikova, Party of Regions Faction, announced about the existence of ‘talented families´ in the party, noting that if the relatives work in the authority body, it does not necessarily mean nepotism).

M.Tomenko stated that Joseph Stalin expressed this immortal phrase in 1935 at the meeting with workers and peasants activists of the Stakhanovite movement. After this phrase was mentioned, the Soviet Union launched repressions against the intellectuals. "Today, a number of regional appeals concerning a mass dismissal of civil servants and journalists of municipal mass media for their non-membership in the Party of Regions and non-support of the party course is rapidly growing", he stated.

The Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine believes that repressions against businessmen who do not share the course of the Party of Regions may be launched on adoption of the governmental Tax Code. "Considering a new Tax Code, I am afraid lest Ukraine should repeat Stalin´s repressions against the businessmen who did not join the Party of Regions", he stated.
