Mykola Tomenko: We want to represent Kyiv as the Capital of Ukrainian Museums

Today, the educational project "Kyiv the Capital of Ukrainian Museums" was presented in UNIAN news agency on the eve of the Day of Kyiv. The project was presented by its initiators and organizers: Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Diana Dutsyk, Editor-in-Chief of Hlavred magazine, Oleksandr Bryhynets, Chairman of the Commission on Culture and Tourism under Kyiv City Council, and Oleksii Davydenko, Secretary of the Commission on Education and Culture under Kyiv City Council.

The purpose of the project is to inform the educational establishments of the capital about the main public and municipal museums of Kyiv and their exhibitions, and a reduced-fare admission for the pupils and the students. For this purpose, a special edition of Hlavred magazine dedicated to the Day of Kyiv presents the museum map of the capital and all the necessary information about the work of museums: location, working hours, exhibitions (50 museums are represented). "Our main objective was to present a guidebook on the museums of the capital to all the educational establishments, higher education institutions and libraries of Kyiv", M.Tomenko stated.

The Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine also stressed that this project is especially topical in the end of the school year, when the curriculum presupposes visits and out-of-school classes in the museums. "Visiting of Kyiv museums by the pupils and students should become a standard and an integral constituent of education process", he stressed. The organizers stated that all the schools, libraries and higher education establishments would get a special edition of the magazine for free within the current week.
