Mykola Tomenko: If the Government relay denies "Enormous" Media Tax, then It will a Great Victory of Society and Media Industry
"If the Government relay denies "enormous" media tax, then it will a great victory of society and media industry", Mykola Tomenko, the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine declared after the Consultations in the Committee on Freedom of Speech and Information regarding the State Budget of Ukraine for the current year regarding the regulation of the activity of the subjects of informational relations.
As it is known, there is a discussion in mass media regarding the information on the possible crucial changes in the conditions of the economic activity of the mass media in Ukraine. On particular it concerns the amendments to the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine "On Local Taxes and Charges" according to which the tax rates on advertising is to be immensely increases and introduce new object of the taxation "publishing (making public) on any information on name of sponsor, trademark and services of the external advertisements in 10 times, for the television advertising in 42 ties and for the published mass media in 30 times.
"The fact we heard today from the representative of Ministry on Finance, that there are no plans for such tax, on one hand is pleasant but on the other hand it is a matter for consideration", M. Tomenko stated as the issue on new tax has been discussed ion the media for on week and its truthfulness was confirmed by the politicians and officials of influence from the coalition.
Mykola Tomenko deems it a victory that "due to the common effort we managed to prevent such unreasonable decision top raise the media tax", though he emphasised: "The truthfulness of such declarations will be confirmed by the text of the State Budget of Ukraine for the year 2010, that is to be directed to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine."
