V.Lytvyn made the above-mentioned statement in the interview to Channel 5 on Tuesday. Asked about his attitude to the initiative of the Party of Regions to deny participation of electoral blocs in the election campaigns, the Head of the Ukrainian Parliament responded: "It is inevitable." V.Lytvyn stated that although he was a leader of the Lytvyn Bloc, he had never been an ardent supporter of the blocs. "You understand that during the election campaign, it is the leader of the bloc that becomes the object of the struggle. It is believed that if the leader is subdued, then the political force and its members are neutralized for 80%", V.Lytvyn stated.
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine calls for developing a civilized party system and political structure of the Ukrainian society. "However, we should not do this on the grounds of our own projects only", he admitted. The Head of the Parliament claimed that he is a total supporter of the majoritarian election system, especially at the local elections, as the elected deputies should be familiar with the concerns of the local community.
V.Lytvyn also stated that the bill initiated by the Party of Regions could be brought forward only after 13 other bills are scrutinized, since the Law on the Standing Orders prohibits including a new bill on the agenda until all the preceding bills on the corresponding subject are scrutinized.
