In the meeting, organized by the Committee on Social Policy and Labor  together with the project of European Union and International Labor Bureau of Labor "Equality of Women and Men in the World of Labour" took part the People´s Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, representatives of Ministries and Departments and employers, international and public organizations, educational establishments.

The firs Deputy Chairman of the Committee Oleh Shevchuk opening the round table emphasized: a discussion of the implementation of ILO Convention in Ukrainian legislation is extremely essential for the legislators taking into the consideration the necessity of its improvement according to ILO standards.

Representative of International Labor Bureau Katrin Landyuit presented the peculiarities of the implementation of ILO Convention No111 "Discrimination in Respect Of Employment and Occupation" (1958) and ILO Convention No. 100 "On Equal Remuneration" (1951).

ILO declared that Convention No. 111 states that sexual harassment is not an illegal practice in many countries and there is shortage of national and international legislation to address this serious rights violation. Studies indicate that women often fail to report incidents to employers or courts because they are unaware of their rights, either because they have been threatened, or because they are afraid they will be punished or humiliated. Equally troubling is that the International Labor Organization (ILO) - the international body with the highest authority on defining workplace rights - does not currently have a convention prohibiting sexual harassment, or even a recommendation that its prohibition of sex discrimination (Convention No. 111) incorporate sexual harassment.

Other participants of the round table stated that in Ukraine the essential legislative and institutional principles of the facilitation of gender equality have been already implemented in Ukraine.

In their speeches the speakers stressed the importance of the trilateral approach to the problem solution of wages equality for women and men and discrimination in the sphere of employment and occupation, in facilitation and implementation of the practical approaches and methods of objective evaluation of works types taking into the consideration an effective implementation of equal remuneration principle for women and men for the work of the equal quality in the state and private spheres.

In the result of the discussion the "round table" participants adopted the recommendation for the Cabinet of Ministers regarding the implementation of the analysis of the state of implementation principles of the Law "On provision of equal rights and opportunities for men and women."

The Government is also recommended to provide in the established order with the participation of the parties of the social dialogue regarding the improvement of the norms of the Law "On provision of the equal rights and opportunities for men and women" aimed at the strengthening of its effect in facilitation of gender equality and elimination of gender discrimination and observance of the norms implied by the ILO Convention No100 etc.
