Mykola Tomenko: The Regions started to nominate their Candidates for the Action "7 Wonders of Ukraine: Castles, Citadels, Palaces"

 

Mykola Tomenko, initiator of the national promotion action "7 Wonders of Ukraine: Castles, Citadels, Palaces" announced that the second stage of the action had commenced and would be conducted in the form of the organization of press tours and presentation of nominees by every region.

 

On Saturday, 5 June, Khmelnytsk region named its candidates for the contest "7 Wonders of Ukraine: Castles, Citadels, Palaces."

 

In the course of visiting Khmelnytsk region and opening the stage of the regional presentations of its nominates, Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, expressed his hopes that the action "7 Wonders of Ukraine: Castles, Citadels, Palaces" would facilitate introduction of more clear-cut state policy of preserving and renovating the Ukrainian castles, citadels and palaces. The Deputy Chairman repeatedly made the point that the principal aim of this promotion action is formation of the complete register of castles, citadels, palaces in Ukraine that are preserved completely or partially.

 

Speaking on the results of the previous actions, M. Tomenko stated: "Despite the fact that the local and central authorities do not always express their positive attitude towards the necessity of supporting the participants and winners of the actions, the results of the promoting activity are brilliant."

 

In the course of the press tour on 5-6 June in Khmelnytsk region, its participants had an opportunity to visit  one of the seven historical-architectural wonders of Ukraine National Historical-Architectural Reserve "Kamianets" and National Natural Park "Podilski Tovtry" winner of the action "7 Natural Wonders of Ukraine." Moreover, two nominees that will take part in the contest "7 Wonders of Ukraine: Castles, Citadels, Palaces" were presented: the State Historical-Cultural Reserve "Medzybik" and Palace-Park Ensemble "Samchyky."
