Ivan Svyda, Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, presented the Draft Resolution (Reg. No. 6537). Its topicality is caused by the fact that construction and bringing into service of "Ukraina" guided weapon cruiser is not scheduled. He stated that upkeep of such a ship is expensive and equals a one-year upkeep of four or five ships of corvette class.

Oleksandr Kuzmuk, Chairman of the Sub-Committee, stated that the guided weapon cruiser is not included into the stock of the naval forces of Ukraine. Therefore, the name of the ship shall be changed, as it would not be used according to its intended purpose.

Anatolii Hrytsenko, Committee Chairman, stated that Ukraine is not is need of a ship of such a class, as it is intended for the multipurpose tasks that are not set before the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Committee members uphold the Draft Resolution, as its adoption will enable further use of the unfinished guided weapon cruiser.
