After the mass dedicated to the 149th anniversary of reburial of Taras Shevchenko in the Church of the Nativity of Christ in Podol district, Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, stated that it was not merely an anniversary of reburial of Taras Shevchenko on Chernecha mountain in Kaniv, but "the day of Ukrainianhood." On Saturday Mykola Tomenko, the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and Volodymyr Hres, the Chairman of the Cherkasy Regional Council presented audio disc with the works of Taras Shevchenko that entered the first edition of "Kobzar" in 1840 by the prominent Ukrainian artists of different epochs. This project was made by the National radio company of Ukraine 10 years ago and received numerous positive responses.
The "Kobzar" disc contains 8 Shevchenko works that saw the world in 1940. They are read by the Ukrainian prominent figures: Mykola Kropyvnytskii (1906 record), Oksana Petrusenko (1937), Borys Hmyria (1963), Natalia Uzhvii (1964) and others.
After the presentation of audio-edition in Cherkasy, M. Tomenko expressed his hopes that the example of Cherkasy regional council will be followed by other regions, and soon audio-Kobzar would be used in the course for the educational process in each educational institution of Ukraine.
