On Tuesday, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met Valentyn Velychko, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Belarus
The participants of the meeting discussed a wide range of issue concerning bilateral cooperation, including its parliamentary constituent. The Parties laid emphasis on the high standards of the inter-governmental dialogue in the political, economic and humanitarian sectors.
The Ambassador stated that the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus had ratified the Agreement on the State Border between Ukraine and the Republic of Belarus signed on 12 May 1997 and ratified by The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on 18 July 1997.
Thus, Mr Velychko stated that respective ratification instruments were ready for the Presidents to sign.
The Parties stressed the significance of the official visit of Viktor Yanukovych, President of Ukraine, to Belarus, the date of which is being negotiated.
Mr Lytvyn and Mr Velychko discussed the cooperation between the countries in the international parliamentary organizations. i.e. in the EURONEST framework.
