Mykola Tomenko: Establishment of the Memorial Sign in Honour of Pylyp Orlyk Constitution in Bendery is a Rectification of Historical Injustice

 

 Today, in Bandery (Moldova Republic) M. Tomenko took part in the opening of the memorial sign in the honour of 300th anniversary of Pylyp Orlyk Constitution. In the opening took part I. Smyrnov, Transnistria Leader, M. Tomenko, the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, S. Pyrozhkov, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Moldova Republic and other.

 

In the course of the ceremony M. Tomenko declared: "Opening of the memorial is a rectification of historical injustice as this place where Ukrainian Hetmans and Ukrainian elite wrote their description of the future of Ukrainian democratic state they dreamt of  asnd now we re supposed to build it."

 

In the course of Moldova Republic visit, M. Tomenko will take part in International scientific-practical conference "Role and Significance of P. Orlyk Constitution in the Formation of Democratic Institutions in Eastern Europe" that will be held on 9 April in Tiraspol, opening of the memorial sign on the occasion of 300th Anniversary from the day of adoption of Hetman Pylyp Orlyk Constitution in Bendery city and other celebrations dedicated to this date.

 

 

With the aim of the satisfaction of educational and linguistics needs of ethnical Ukrainians that live on the territory of Moldova Republic, it is also envisaged that the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine presents humanitarian aid more then 1000 copies of textbooks (Ukrainian literature reading books) for the schools were Ukrainian pupils are studying. Moreover, the schools will be presented with the disc published by M. Tomenko Fund with audio recordings of popular Ukrainian literature men "Classics of Ukrainian Literature. Living voices."

 

 Memorial sign is constructed in the form of book with the information on history of P. Orlyk Constitution creation and its full title in Ukrainian and Latin languages.
