Volodymyr Lytvyn, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine predicts further Extension of the Coalition
Asked by Rada television channel on Friday, V.Lytvyn predicted that the coalition would involve 240 deputies by next Tuesday.
The Head of the Parliament assumed critical attitude towards the politicians who tried to present the Constitutional Court Resolution regarding coalition legitimacy as "a pressing issue of our life." "These are nothing but attempts to distract public attention from the economic situation and the responsibility of the executive authority officials for economic and social processes", he stated.
V.Lytvyn is surprised by the declarations that present-day harmonized work of all the branches of authority is "anti-democratic" and "non-constitutional". "I understand the doubts. However, let the Constitutional Court to confirm or dissolve these doubts," he stated.
V.Lytvyn believes that the politicians who consider the coalition to be illegitimate object to the work of the parliament and fail to suggest any practicable decisions. "If one disagrees, one should file an appeal, resign the deputy´s authorities, making a courageous step, - he stated. - Cynicism, profanity and negligible attitude to the people can no longer be tolerated. I have always welcomed the proposals concerning enhancement of work, while the motions concerning impediment to work have never been accepted."
V.Lytvyn reminded that under the Constitution of Ukraine and the Constitutional Court Resolution, the coalition shall be set up by factions with at least 226 deputies. "Three factions set up a coalition; however, the number of deputies is not sufficient. Some deputies from other factions signed the coalition agreement. There are 235 altogether. I should say there will be 240 deputies by Tuesday. Is it wrong?" the Head of the Parliament asked.
"If we want The Verkhovna Rada to be civilized, not the Factions, but the Deputies shall bear the responsibility. It is not the Factions, but the Deputies that shall pass the decision to work. Otherwise, the Factions that set up the coalition should remain, while the others should file the appeals, resign the offices, receive no salary and wait for the next elections. I do not share this absurd logic. I stand for the organized work of The Verkhovna Rada", V.Lytvyn summarized.
