In the meeting, organized by the initiative of the Laboratory of Foreign Initiatives (Ukraine) and Westminster Foundation for Democracy (Great Britain), the People´s Deputies of Ukraine, leading experts on parliamentarism matters of Ukraine, Great Britain, Poland and Georgia, representatives of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariate, diplomatic representatives, public organizations and mass media took part.
During the conference, the attention was paid to the role of the Parliament in the process of democratic political system building.
Mykola Tomenko, the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine during the conference emphasized that the problem number one for the Ukrainian Parliament remained the necessity to reform the election system.
In the course of the meeting it was declared that all the remarks and propositions regarding the parliamentary reformation would be taken into account and composed into the "White Book of Ukrainian Parliamentarism." The Document would be consisted of the results of the researches in the sphere of comparative parliamentarism, series of the expert consultations in Kyiv and 10 regions of Ukraine, expert inquiry of the public opinion regarding the functioning of the Ukrainian Parliament.
