Mykola Tomenko: The Verkhovna Rada and The President will not allow the Electoral Fraud

Today in the course of the briefing in the Parliament, Mykola Tomenko, the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine gave comments concerning the extraordinary plenary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, initiated by the Party of Regions, that is to be held on 3 February in order to scrutinize the Bill on amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On Elections of the President of Ukraine" (regarding the organization of the electoral commissions work).

The Bill was adopted in the first reading on 28 January and it envisages the exclusion from the Law "On Election of the President of Ukraine" the chapter four of the article 28 (the electoral commission sitting is legitimate if two thirds personnel participate in it).

Mykola Tomenko emphasized that the idea "to break down" the voting is being held in three directions now. First of all, according to him, it concerns the introduction of the Bill, mentioned above, for the tomorrow Plenary Meeting. M. Tomenko expressed hope that the Bill will not be included into the agenda as there is no relevant decision of the Committee, moreover, the Bill was criticized by the leaders of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, the Central Scientific Experts Office of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariate and even "the common sense."

"I am convinced that the majority of the factions are aware of the fact that adoption of such a decision means the falsification of people´s declaration of will", - he stated.

The Deputy Chairman also informed that if tomorrow the Parliament does not adopt the Bill, there is already the decision of the Central Election Committee, suggested by M. Okhendovskyi (the Party of Regions quote), according to which actually the same norms are suggested by the decision of the Central Election Committee. M. Tomenko named such actions the second attack direction regarding the elections results correction. "The decision actually authorizes the Central Election Committee majority that now is controlled by the Party of Regions, with the right to exclude members of the district polling site commission that do not support the "general line."

"And the third direction that is unfortunately in action now is an everyday work of the polling site commission", - M. Tomenko declared. He explained that today the following principle is widely spread: the commission sitting is announced on one time but is held in another time without notification of all the commission members. Later the members of the commission that have not been notified about the sitting beforehand are dismissed and in such a way the representatives of one candidate for the presidential office clean-up the commissions´ personnel.

In the end, M. Tomenko repeatedly expressed hope that the majority would not uphold the Bill and in case it is passed the President would not sign it. "I hope that even the international community will also react on the attempts to correct the principal basis of the votes calculation in few days before the campaign is finished", - he emphasized.
