Greetings of the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the Occasion of the Ukraine's

Reunion Day

Fellow Compatriots!

Please accept my sincere congratulations on the occasion of the Ukraine's Reunion Day

Proclamation on the Sofia Square on 22 January 1919 of the memorable words: "From today two separated part of the single Ukraine are united in the one whole" and it became one of the most important and essential events in the centuries-old history of Ukrainian nation. From this date the newest chronology in Ukraine commenced full of the qualitative new spirit and state forming content. It is the great victory on the path of the Ukrainian state independence and country development.

Wonderful goals and intentions, unfortunately, failed to find continuation in the social consolidation, coordinated practical efforts in the formation of new Ukraine as the best Ukrainian sons and devoted patriots dreamt of.  Though, despite the bitter defeat in this historical break through, the unique outburst of the nation life energy, powerful exhibition of its spiritual resources have remained for many years in the nation´s consciousness.

Let us carefully listen to the event of the previous century, to the conclusions and warnings, we are supposed to appreciate their good lessons: reunion of our lands commences from the reunion of our hearts, thoughts and souls. Reunion lessons bind us to concentrate our aims on the essential formation of the democratic society, strong and wealthy Ukraine.

Hope that this day will unite all of us in the broad striving for peace and flourishing of our Motherland, wish the Ukrainian nation welfare and happiness.
