In the today´s program at Channel 5, Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, commented upon the course of election campaign. He stated: "Although the final results of the election campaign have not been summed up yet, it is possible to single out several myths that failed to come true during the voting, as well as several problems that happened in the course of election campaign".

M.Tomenko believes that a "fantastic" victory of the team of Viktor Yanukovych over the acting authorities is one of those myths. "Between the first and the second round of elections, the Party of Regions declared that their strategy presupposed the victory with a 15-per-cent gap; therefore, the 3-4-per-cent gap predicted by exit-pools fails to comply with this strategy", - he stated.

"The second myth concerns the so-called public legitimacy of the future President. It is for the first time that the figure did not exceed 50%", - M.Tomenko stressed.

Finally, the third myth is the fact that "fewer regions of Ukraine will vote for Viktor Yanukovych: 10 regions at most and the city of Sevastopol. At the same time, Yulia Tymoshenko is supported by 15 regions and the capital of Ukraine".

M.Tomenko commented upon the problems and surprises experienced by the BYuT during the election campaign. Thus, M.Tomenko stated that "fantastic working capacity" of Viktor Yushchenko between the first and the second rounds was a surprise. "As the BYuT has in due time worked for the victory of Viktor Yushchenko, Viktor Yushchenko has this time worked for Viktor Yanukovych between the first and the second rounds", - the Deputy Chairman stressed. M.Tomenko stated that increase of the number of voters who voted against both candidates is the result of President´s actions, as he abused power in the western regions in favour of Viktor Yanukovych and called for the support of neither candidate.

As far as the further plans of the BYuT team were concerned, M.Tomenko stated: "The decisions about future action plans can be adopted only when the final results of elections are announced, and our simultaneous calculation of votes is performed".
