The First Sitting of the Temporary Inquiry Panel to investigate the Facts of Intrusion into the Mass Media Activity and Announcements concerning Freedom of Speech Pressure in Ukraine, on the Part of the State Authorities, Local Self-Government Bodies and Their Dignitaries, was held in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine

In the course of the sitting, the Temporary Inquiry Panel resolved to direct to the National Journalist Union of Ukraine, National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting Matters the letters with the appeal to inform the Panel on the facts of intrusion into the mass media activity and on the part of the state authorities, local self-government bodies and their dignitaries. The Temporary Inquiry Panel also addressed all the mass media agencies with the same appeal.

 

In the course of the sitting, Stepan Kurpil (Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc) was elected on the post of the Panel Secretary, Eduard Prutnik (Party of Regions) was appointed on the office of the Panel Chairperson, Iryna Herashenko ("Our Ukraine People´s Self-Defence Faction") the Panel Deputy Chairperson.
