Mykola Tomenko: In the Next Plenary Week, the People's Deputies shall decide whether they support the Coalition or the Opposition

On Tuesday in the course of the procedure of signing the agreement on the formation of the united oppositional parliamentary powers, M. Tomenko stated: "It is extremely important for me as a Deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, who represents the oppositional powers among the Leaders of the Parliament, not to let the revision of the basic values of the Ukrainian state in the Constitution. Hence, the most important issue for today is the fact the coalition is to be formed not more than out of 300 People´s Deputies."

M. Tomenko is convinced that it would be ideal if in the course of the scrutiny of "the principal valuable issues" the opposition possesses 226 votes but not the coalition. The Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine declared that it would be possible is, for example, Lytvyn Bloc faction "stands for the state interests of Ukraine as it used to be during the times of the democratic coalition."

The Deputy Chairman also announced that "soon it would not be fashionable any more to proclaim the bolshevist slogan "Neither piece not war and army to be disbanded" and Deputies will finally decide whether they support the coalition or the opposition during the next plenary week."

"It is extremely necessary to present the united democratic opposition in the Parliament as the existence of so-called "funny" oppositions, that still make attempts to become a part of a coalition, is a bad symptom", - he declared.

Moreover, M. Tomenko repeatedly made the point that the oppositional government is to be formed exclusively by the People´s Deputies of Ukraine. "Thus, the discussion regarding the possible appearance of the several oppositional governments is absurd as it is impossible even due to the arithmetic reasons."

The Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is convinced that "the united parliamentary opposition will finally appear in the Parliament" as it is defined by the Law "On Standing Orders of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine."
