To Ukrainian Women

Dear countrywomen, precious mothers, wives, daughters and sisters!

I send my sincere greetings to Ukrainian women on occasion of the holiday that felicitates triumphant essence of love and beauty by an exalted spring song.

Peculiar life-asserting origin of this holiday is caused by the harmony of the eternal values common to mankind and virtues: love, motherhood, commonwealth and charity. The holy nature of woman is the national and cultural heart.

The national appreciation of this holiday is manifested as immense tenderness and gratitude to mother, to ability of woman to sacrifice herself for the sake of the social, labour and family interests.

In Ukrainian society, women have traditionally played a crucial role. Our highest achievements are embellished with wisdom and foresight of glorious countrywomen, their poetic soul and hard-working hands. Even now, women stand on the cusp of time as a motive force of national progress, social devotees, and inspirers of beneficence. In the vortex of life: in happiness and joy, sorrow and misery, wealth and poverty, women become our faithful support, relief and hope.

I wish you peace, happiness, joy and goodwill for long and happy years.

Volodymyr LYTVYN
