Mykola Tomenko, the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine as a co-author of certain number of Bill regarding the restriction and ordering of advertising, selling and consuming of alcoholic beverages and tobacco goods, addresses the mass media with the appeal to protect the cultural values, social morality due to the fact that, first of all, they are obliged to be guided by the law principles in their activity.

M. Tomenko emphasized that in recent times the behavior, to put it mildly, far away from the tolerance, cultural and educational standards, became peculiar for the Ukrainian citizens, especially it concerns the young generation.

The Deputy Chairman briefed that there were attempts to stop this tendency and take measures to return the society to the standards of Ukrainian culture and European values. Recently, at least partially, the legislation principles concerning restriction of smocking in public places are being implemented and obliged and on 21 January, the Parliament adopted the Law which equates bear and low-alcohol beverages with alcohol beverages, broadens the restriction on its sale and consumption and prohibits its sale to citizens less than 18 years.

Instead, M. Tomenko stated, "that sometimes the reaction of certain mass media becomes a real shocking one, as in their items they suggest inexecution of such laws."

M. Tomenko is convinced that only due to the common actions it is possible to propagandize active and healthy way of living, culture of behavior in our society and stop the aggressive, antisocial behaviors.
