Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, expects that the Dialogue between Ukraine and the Russian Federation will be restored after the Presidential Elections
In the Monday´s interview to "Ekho Moskvy" radio station, V.Lytvyn stated that Russia would "pursue its policy" as to Ukraine no matter who became the President of Ukraine. "I think even pressure may be exerted. The prices for gas will not be altered, as Russia raises the domestic prices for gas", - he stated.
V.Lytvyn believes that a newly-elected President of Ukraine will be more concerned with the European pursuit of our country. "Our leaders will behave in the following way: as they demonstrate loyalty towards Russia during the election campaign, the balance shall later be restored, so they will mostly talk about Europe, - he stated. The European choice will be declared, while the agreements with Russia will be considered as such that had been already reached".
The Head of the Parliament stated that the bilateral dialogue "will be uneasy in view of the prospective implementation of effective gas agreements". "It requires about a billion of dollars monthly. The economic situation in the country is utterly complicated. However, I expect that the dialogue will be restored", - V.Lytvyn stated.
V.Lytvyn believes that present-day relations between the countries "are near the chilling point", the dialogue both at the high and other levels being suspended.
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine predicts that a newly-elected Head of State will make the first visit to the Russian Federation.
