Verkhovna Rada Discusses Legislative Priorities, EU Integration, and Continuity of Parliamentary Operations

Participants discussed the legislative work of the Verkhovna Rada, specifically the adoption of EU integration draft laws and measures linked to state budget financing and the fulfillment of Ukraine’s international obligations. Special attention was devoted to the challenges impacting the operations of Parliament during full-scale war.
Opening the meeting, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked international partners for their military, financial, humanitarian, and political support for Ukraine.
He emphasized the necessity of clear and honest dialogue within Parliament, ensuring that differing positions do not block decisions upon which the financial sustainability of the state depends.
"A clear and honest dialogue must continue in Parliament. It is not about everyone holding identical positions, but about ensuring that differing views do not obstruct decisions critical to the state's financial sustainability," noted Ruslan Stefanchuk.
In the near future, the Verkhovna Rada plans to consider 45 EU integration draft laws. According to First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniyenko, their passage is a vital part of Ukraine’s European integration process.
"All of these draft laws represent vital reforms for the country—regulating markets, energy, and the environment. This is precisely what brings us closer to accession and intersects with the National Program for the Adoption of the Acquis," noted Oleksandr Korniyenko.
During the meeting, participants also addressed the direct involvement of the Ukrainian Parliament in the negotiation process regarding Ukraine’s full membership in the European Union.
"We must ensure that within every law passed, we see the immediate impact on our citizens' daily lives today. It is essential to strike a balance between defending our national interests and meeting the requirements set by our partners. This current convocation of Parliament possesses a unique opportunity to do everything possible to ensure Ukraine becomes a full partner of the European Union," emphasized Olena Kondratiuk.
Summarizing the meeting, Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasized the need to consolidate efforts around decisions vital to the state.
"On our shoulders today lies not only the quality of legislation, but to a large extent the financial sustainability of the country. Therefore, we have no time for parliamentary filibustering or obstruction. I call on all parliamentarians to consolidate their efforts around passing the necessary decisions," stressed the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
International partners expressed their support for Ukraine, emphasizing the importance of continuing legislative work, implementing vital reforms, and further advancing Ukraine on its path toward European Union membership.
